Our mission is to promote public safety in partnership with law enforcement and
community members.
We will accomplish this by employing community oriented policing practices and problem
solving techniques to prevent, reduce or elimate neighborhood problems and improve the
quality of life for the citizens of San Diego.
Meetings
- Meetings will be held quarterly
- Last Meeting was February 10th, 2009 -- Election of New Board Members
The Problem
The threat of crime to people and property is ever present. The threat is particularly
serious in inner city neighborhoods where drugs, gangs and urban decay increase
opportunity.
The Cause
The breakdown of the spirit of the community or neighborhood appears to be a major
contributor.
The Solution
Criminal justice studies show that citizen involvement programs - including Neighborhood
Watch and Business Alert - are among the most effective ways of reducing crime. These
programs work because they are based on the concept of neighbors helping neighbors.
They also help to rebuild residents' sense of community identity and pride.
The Strategy
San Diegans United for Safe Neighborhoods has been created as an umbrella organization
to assist neighborhood residents in establishing and maintaining community involvement
programs with the goal of creating crime free neighborhoods.

Help Wanted
While we would like to keep in constant contact with all our volunteers, we have limited staff
available to call you when we have openings for volunteers. Please keep our

looking for skilled individuals to help at the office, participate with sub-committees and
improve the safety of our neighborhoods.
We are always recruiting new block captains for neighborhood watch, looking for volunteers
to paint out graffiti and folks interested in coordinating activities to improve our
neighborhoods.
Also watch for information in your Safe Neighborhoods Bulletin.
If you don't receive it please send an E-Mail to

If you would like to report graffiti, you can do so on this site: Report Graffiti Here
