as always is free, and runs from Saturday 10am to 9pm and Sunday 10am to 6pm. The event is located on Adams Avenue from 34th to Wilson in Normal Heights. All information contained on this page is subject to change without notice.

The Adams Avenue Roots and Folk Festival focuses on the promotion, preservation and performance of local and nationally touring musical acts that reflect the rich folk roots and traditions of music styles such as Blues, vintage swing, Appalachian, Norteņo, country boogie, old-time string music, cowboy yodeling, Western, Cajun, Celtic, etc.
Talent for the Adams Avenue Roots and Folk Festival is booked by its founder (San Diegan) Lou Curtiss. He is a nationally recognized record producer, music researcher and archivist for the Smithsonian Institution, multi-instrumentalist, and owner or Folk Arts Rare Records.
The Roots and Folk Festival provides a rare opportunity for its many accomplished musicians to come together in one place and showcase their talent. This helps to guarantee the future of many disappearing music traditions, by exposing others (especially the younger generations) to something they would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience.
As the public becomes more aware of the diversity and quality of the musical acts presented at the Roots Festival, interest increases. Last year, 30,000 attended the free two-day festival. This is truly an event that provides both enjoyment and cultural enrichment for the whole family.
